EXERCISE AND HEALTHY FOOD CHOICES

Children at Discovery Village are physically active. Opportunity for both indoor and outdoor active play occurs daily at our day care and early childhood learning center. We have additional enrichment programming such as soccer and yoga. Attention is given in our exemplary day care activities to motor skills, fun, and development of lifelong positive approach to physical fitness.

Each day at Discovery Village, our children enjoy a healthy breakfast, lunch, and two snacks. Our menus are designed by a licensed dietician, and prepared fresh on-site daily by our own chef. There is a four week meal schedule with different options each day. We review the menu monthly and update to tailor to providing child-friendly meals of high nutritious value.

Meals and Snacks are served with Milk (whole milk for children 1-2 years old; and fat free or low fat milk from children 2-5 years old).

Breakfast

Warm cinnamon oatmeal served with fresh apple slices and Milk

Scrambled eggs rolled into a warm whole wheat tortilla, served with fresh blueberries, raspberries, and Milk

French Toast served with syrup, fresh Blackberries and Milk

Pancakes served with syrup, no sugar Apple Sauce, and Milk

Toasted English Muffins with cream cheese/butter served with fresh Kiwi and Milk

Omelet, turkey sausage ½ Mini Bagel with cream cheese/butter served with fresh orange slices and Milk

Lunch

Baked chicken tenders served with fresh melon, fresh tomato and cucumber salad and water

Ciabatta Pizza served with spinach, fresh blueberries and water

Pasta and Peas served with fresh strips of multi colored peppers, peaches, and water

Meatless Tacos served with vegetable rice, mango and water

Fish Nuggets served with fresh coleslaw, watermelon and pineapple, and water

Grilled Chicken with sautéed peppers and brown rice served with fresh oranges and water

Snacks

Greek yogurt served with kiwi, cantaloupe and water

Pita chips served with sliced grapes, tangerine slices and water

Crackers with cheese cubes, cucumber slices and water

Rice Cakes served with fresh cut apples and cinnamon with water

Pretzels with hummus, fresh tomatoes, watermelon and water
