The care of a village, creativity of an art studio, and discovery of a science lab await children at Discovery Village. Serving children from six weeks to five years, Discovery Village is a premier Childcare Center and Preschool. We provide high quality full-time, year-round childcare and learning, promoting well-being for children and their families now and well into the future.
Classic and contemporary research and experience come alive in our playful approach. Academic, social emotional, physical, and character development is embedded in play and projects stemming from children’s wonder and curiosity. We enhance learning with quality enrichment including Spanish, Sign Language, Art, Science, and so much more. As a result of our thoughtful approach, children are prepared for success and well-being in Kindergarten and beyond.
Discovery Village is inspired by impactful educational philosophies of the 20th century – Montessori, Waldorf, and especially Reggio. Building from those approaches, Discovery Village designs anew what is possible in a childcare center.
During the Covid-19 pandemic Discovery Village remained open for families that needed to rely on our care. Those challenging days of crisis brought renewal. We revitalized our approach to learning and care to address the demands and possibilities of our times. Constraints from new health protocols fueled creativity. Protests over racial inequity and injustice deepened our values based learning. Well being and connection to others, both similar and different from ourselves, emerged as core to our program. We committed to being a haven of hope in a world needing healing, yet also filled with wonder and possibility.
Discovery Village is licensed by the New York State Office of Children and Family Services. We are a member of the Child Care Council of Westchester.

At the heart of Discovery Village Childcare Center and Preschool lie the relationships between our villagers: children, teachers, and families. Our village model emphasizes taking time to be with one another, developing caring, appreciative, respectful bonds. We emphasize the joy and responsibility of being a villager. This includes substantial attention to developing the social emotional skills needed to care for ourselves and others. Well-being is central to our approach with focus on healthy lifestyle choices. We additionally emphasize inclusive care for others regardless of background. Branching out beyond those in our supportive village, we demonstrate care for the broader community, and for our planet. We become actively involved in projects locally and globally to make a positive impact.

Our young villagers learn by doing, pursuing their interests through play and projects. Learning is integrated into explorations stemming from children’s curiosity. We incorporate language arts, math, science, the arts, cultural studies, physical education, social-emotional learning and so much more. Children’s projects decorate our classrooms and hallways, as children design and redesign our space, making it uniquely their own. Village wide celebrations immerse children in joyous exploration and fun, creative self expression, and meaningful social action.

Discovery Village offers care and learning that is deeply grounded in promoting values supporting well-being for our children, our communities, and our world.
In a caring village environment, children actively explore their own unique ways of making a positive impact. Children develop social emotional skills, inner resources, and qualities of character vital for a lifetime of well being and contribution. This includes learning skills of self care, care for others, care for communities, and care for our planet.
